It's been almost seven years ago since Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington tragically died.

Most people would assume that it spelt the end of the rap-metal band - but it seems that Bennington's bandmates have other ideas.

Last month, another musician - Jay Gordon of the band Orgy - claimed that Linkin Park were planning to reunite and tour in 2025 with a female vocalist in Bennington's place. He said on a radio show: "It's going to be tough without Chester, but we’ll see. I hear they got a girl singer now… That ought to be interesting."

Although he rowed back on the comments after it went viral, it seems that there was some truth to Gordon's claim as Billboard has confirmed that a reunion is indeed in the works.

Their report claims that Linkin Park's booking agent is currently taking offers for a reunion tour and potential festival headline slots, and that “the band is hoping to find a female vocalist."

One of the names being bandied about as a potential new singer is Evanescence's Amy Lee - who recently said that she had not been approached, but added: "But that’s awesome. They should ask me about that. I don’t have a ton of free time, but I might do it part-time."

The news seems to have divided fans, but as it's not confirmed it looks like it's a case of 'watch this space' for now...
