Having threatened to hang on to the name Oasis, Liam Gallagher has now revealed that the new band will be called Beady Eye.

Shortly after the Oasis split, Liam revealed that he was working on new material with former bandmates Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Chris Sharrock. He had said, "If we don't come up with something else by the time we're ready to release the album it'll be Oasis ... I'm not going to call myself something ridiculous just for the sake of it."

More recently, Liam announced plans to release the band's first single in October, and to play live shows for its release. The band are currently recording for their debut album with U2 & Rolling Stones producer Steve Lillywhite.

Oasis' 'best of' compilation 'Time Flies' is due for release on June 11th and features 26 tracks from throughout Oasis' 15 year career from 1994 and 2009.
