Mark Chapman, the man who shot John Lennon 27 years ago, has been denied parole for the fifth time since 2000.

Chapman, who is now 53, has been in prison since he murdered the former Beatle outside his Dakota Building home in New York City in 1981.

He'll remain incarcerated in Attica Correctional Facility for at least another two years after the parole board concluded that he murdered Lennon "with an essentially clear mind", and that setting him free now "would not be in the best interest of the community".
