Lady Gaga was positively Queen of the MTV VMAs which took place last night.

Not only did Gaga win Artist of the Year and the first-ever MTV Tricon Award. She also opened the VMAs with her song  "911."

She was then joined on stage by the fabulous Ariana Grande. They performed a futuristic-themed set in line with Gaga's "Chromatica" album.

It was the first time "Rain On Me" had been performed live on TV.

Check it out.

Gaga, always one for fashion, also wore a range of fabulous outfits and face masks.

The singer won five awards in all.

"Rain On Me" won song of the year, best collaboration and best cinematography.

Ariana Grande meanwhile won best music video from home for "Stuck With U", her collaboration with Justin Bieber.

Other winners on the night included The Weeknd who nabbed best video for "Blinding Lights"; Taylor Swift for best direction for "The Man"; and Megan Thee Stallion’s "Savage" for best hip-hop.

The ceremony was dedicated to actor Chadwick Boseman, who died last weekend following an undisclosed four-year fight with colon cancer.

The show was streamed from New York City, hosted by Keke Palmer, and included a mix of video acceptance speeches and performances without an audience, some of which were pre-recorded.

The show also paid tribute to frontline workers in New York. It highlighted the Black Lives Matter movement with host Palmer saying young people have shown that they will “step up, take to the streets, and make sure they’re heard.”
