Lady Gaga has tweeted her support for Cardi B following backlash the rapper received for winning Best Rap Album at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night.

Cardi B took to her Instagram account after the Awards to say how hurt she is by people believing she didn't deserve her Grammy win. The rapper said, "I been taking a lot of sh*t today. I’m seeing a lot of bullsh*t today and I saw a lot of sh*t last night. And I’m sick of this sh*t. I worked hard for my motherf**king album.

"I remember last year when I didn’t win for 'Bodak Yellow,' everybody was like, 'Cardi got snubbed, Cardi got snubbed.' Now this year’s a f**king problem?" Cardi then suspended her Instagram account.

Now however, fellow Grammy-winner Lady Gaga has voiced her support for Cardi. Gaga, who won three awards on the night, has tweeted to say how "brave" the rapper has been. The 'Shallow' singer posted a photo of them both together, and said "It is so hard to be a woman in this industry. What it takes, how hard we work through the disrespectful challenges, just to make art.

"I love you Cardi. You deserve your awards. Let’s celebrate her fight. Lift her up & honor her. She is brave."

Cardi B hasn't yet responded to Gaga's support.

As well as winning three Grammy Awards, Lady Gaga also won a BAFTA on the same night. 'A Star Is Born' won Best Original Music, beating 'Mary Poppins Returns' and 'If Beale Street Could Talk.'
