The list of Irish acts playing at this year's South By Southwest festival in Texas has just expanded. In addition to the previously announced list of performers, anyone heading over to Austin can now look forward to seeing Kid Karate, Cian Nugent and Damien Rice among the other sea of names scheduled to play the event.

Kid Karate will be making their second successive appearance at the festival after a hugely impressive turn in 2013, which led to a much increased profile on the other side of the Atlantic.

"To play at SXSW is an absolute honour", Kid Karate drummer Steven Gannon told us. "We had our first experience last year and it was pretty much the catalyst for everything that's happened for the band since. I can't wait to get over there and play alongside Wounds, Hozier and the other great bands who'll be representing Ireland this year."

The Irish contingent at SXSW this year now consists of:

Cian Nugent
Damien Rice
Dott
Foy Vance
Heathers
Hozier
Kid Karate
O Emperor
RAMS' Pocket Radio
September Girls
The Strypes
Unknown
Wonder Villains
Wounds
The Young Folk
Nightbox
