Whether you're a fan of his music or not, one thing that can't be debated is the fact that Ed Sheeran generally seems like a decent, stand-up guy.
The superstar made a very generous gesture to Tom Parker from British/Irish boyband The Wanted, who sadly passed away earlier this year after being diagnosed with a brain tumour.
In Parker's new memoir 'Hope', which has recently been published, he revealed that Sheeran contributed toward his medical bills. "‘I’ve never publicly said this before (and he’ll probably be mad that I’m doing it now) but Ed is a very special man," he wrote. "He even helped out with my medical bills when I was seeking other treatment options and having private immunotherapy treatment."
Now, his widow Kelsey Parker has revealed that she recently gave Sheeran a gift to say 'thank you' for his generosity.
Speaking on ITV show 'Lorraine' earlier this week, she acknowledged that the ginger star's gesture had given her more time with her late husband.
"Ed was just amazing, just an unbelievable person," she said. "He was at the Summertime Ball at the weekend and I actually got him a gift and I got him some crystals, because I’m like, what do you get someone who’s got everything?"
She added: "But I just wanted to say thank you. What he did for us, for our family, gave me more time with Tom. [He’s an] unbelievable person, he didn’t need to do that, and he didn’t even ask for anything from it – it was like, 'I’m giving you this, please'."
The book has already become a Sunday Times Bestseller since it was published last month.
