The Rolling Stones have long been rumoured to be making a return to the live arena to celebrate their 50th anniversary as a band. The July anniversary came and went without note, no live shows were announced and the band turned down the chance to perform at the London Olympics opening ceremony.

It looks as though Stones fans won't have too much longer to wait, though. Keith Richards spoke to Q Magazine and indicated that the Rolling Stones will play a series of dates in the UK and US, saying: "We've got some shows in London, I believe, and in New York, but I really can't talk about any of that at the moment. They've the gag on me on this. You can hint!"

Nice work keeping schtum, Keith.

The band are currently knee-deep in band rehearsals for the tour and Keith added that everything is progressing nicely - "...two days of hanging around with the guys again, a certain demon energy takes over and you wonder where it's coming from!"

We'll bring you more information on the where and when of the dates as soon as we get it.
