She is undoubtedly a living legend, but it's been over two decades since Joni Mitchell headlined a gig in public.

That all changed, however, on Saturday night when the 79-year-old played a show at Washington's Gorge Ampitheatre, where she held court for almost three hours.

In recent times, Mitchell has made some low-key public appearances, including a surprise set at the Newport Folk Festival where an all-star cast of performers, from Brandi Carlile to Marcus Mumford and Wynonna Judd, joined her on stage.

Her headline show in Washington saw a similar group of famous faces join her on stage, including Carlile, Mumford, Annie Lennox, Blake Mills, Sarah McLachlan, Lucius and more.
