Iconic Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr has revealed that he will write an autobiography.

Posting on his Twitter account, Marr announced, "I have been offered a book deal, a serious one. I'd get into it and that would mean less time on songs . It will happen though."

He continued, "It will be an autobiography of course, that or about my collection of fascinating public bus tickets from the '80's. That would be cool."

Since the revelation there has been much speculation that the guitarist will disclose never before heard secrets about his time with The Smiths. Meanwhile Smiths frontman Morrissey has been working on his own life-story for the past number of years.

The Smiths split in 1987 after releasing such classic tracks as 'Panic' and 'This Charming Man'. Johnny Marr now plays with American rockers The Cribs after spending three years playing with Modest Mouse.
