John Lennon's molar has fetched a staggering €22,000 at auction in the UK, in a move which surely puts the established tooth fairy rates to shame. The tooth was in possession of Lennon's former housekeeper Dot Jarlett after Lennon gave it to her to dispose of sometime between 1964 and 1968, but he then suggested she give it to her daughter who was fan of the band.
While the tooth is too fragile for DNA testing to confirm its authenticity, the Omega Auction House, who were in charge of the sale, take Jarlett's claim of its origin at face value.
The auction was won by - wait for it - a Canadian dentist.
