Following his recent departure from longtime record label Def Jam, Jay Z has come top of influential hip-hop magazine The Source's "Power 30" list. The rapper beat high profile peers such as P.Diddy, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Lil Wayne and Will.i.am to the top of the list, because of his profitable business endeavours, such as those with Live Nationa and Rocawear. He also owns part of basketball team, the New Jersey Nets.

Meanwhile, it has bee reported that Jay-z's forthcoming album, "Blueprint 3" will be released on September 11th, a controversial date to say the least. The news initially broke via a Twitter post on Wednesday afternoon, which was visible for just hours before it was removed. The posting was made by Sam Crespo, VP of Rap Promotions at Atlantic Records, the label who are reportedly going to distribute the album, released via Roc Records. An official announcement is expected to be made on Sunday.
