A proposed Jay-Z concert which was scheduled to take place atop the Ed Sullivan Theatre in New York City has been canned amid concerns over "fireworks and terrorism".

The show, which was meant to take place next Monday (July 8th), was to mark the release of Jay-Z's new album Magna Carter Holy Grail. According to the NY Post the city's mayor Michael Bloomberg had given the go-ahead for the performance but has since retracted his support.

A 'source' told the Post that "The mayor's office approved it, and then just like that, it got denied... It's because of the holiday weekend. They were concerned about fireworks and terrorism."

We're not exactly sure what this means here. Should we read this as them being concerned about people shooting fireworks towards Jay-Z while he performs - and are those people automatically 'terrorists'? Anyway, we digress...

The proposed gig was to be filmed for and shown on The David Letterman Show but it looks like Jay-Z fans will have to wait a little longer to get a live taste of Hov's 12th album. Speaking of, Magna Carta Holy Grail will be available for purchase on Monday. Look for a review on site soon!
