Two big Irish artists are going head-to-head by releasing new songs today.

Singer-songwriters James Vincent McMorrow and Gavin James have emerged from lockdown with two impressive songs.

McMorrow's track 'Headlights' is his first new music in three years and is the first track to be taken from his forthcoming fifth album, which will be released on Columbia Records (date TBC).

Meanwhile, his fellow Dubliner Gavin James also releases his new single 'Boxes' today.

He said of the track: "The message of the song is to not listen to anybody. Just listen to yourself and follow your dream… I went to an all boys school in Dublin where if you wore the wrong shoes you had to walk around in slippers all day. I was a bit mad at school, I wouldn’t even try a little bit, and for years I had people saying I couldn’t do anything, it was too hard to make it in music, I shouldn’t try."

The very cool animated lyric video was created by the Australian-based Show Off Animation company, who have worked on the likes of Rick & Morty and The Simpsons.
