Michael Jackson was so convinced that there would be an attempt on his life during his planned series of concert in London's O2 Arena shortly before the singer's death that he was planning on wearing a bulletproof on stage.

Matt Fiddes, Jackson's bodyguard, spoke of Jackson's paranoia to The People saying "Michael said to me, 'I fear I'm not going to make these concerts, or may get assassinated onstage. Please could you make sure my children are okay.'"

Fiddes continued to say that Jackson feared he would be shot during the press conference to announce the shows that he swilled a half bottle of whiskey to calm his nerves.
