Almost exactly a year since the official demise of The White Stripes Jack White has announced his return to recording. White will release his debut solo album Blunderbuss in April.

White hasn't been completely inactive since the split of The White Stripes, continuing to play in his other bands The Dead Weather and The Raconteurs, but his solo career wasn't an entirely premeditated endeavour.

White elaborated to BBC Radio's Zane Lowe: "A few months ago, we had a session booked and someone didn't show up so I said, 'I guess we'll do some of my songs'...it kickstarted the whole process."

'Love Interruption', the lead single from the album, was released online yesterday and you can listen to it below.
