Very sad news this morning as it has been revealed that Timmy Matley, the only Irish member of doo-wop vocal group The Overtones, has passed away.

The Cork native, who was also the band's lead singer, had been performing with the London based band since 2010.

He had been battling skin cancer for the past two years after being diagnosed with stage three malignant melanoma, although his cause of death has not been confirmed. He had been planning a skydive for charity in the coming weeks.

He passed away at the age of 36 on Monday and many, including his bandmates, have been paying tribute to him on social media - some of which you can see below.
