Snoop Dogg is no stranger to controversy or the court system.

In 2007, the rapper was refused entry to the UK due to his arrest and cancelled a number of tour dates.

His most recent concert in Ebrington Square, Derry, was met with protest from local activists, including Foyle Women's Aid, who campaigned to have the concert cancelled.

A young woman was arrested and charged with assaulting a police officer following the concert, prompting Judge Barney McElholm to pass comment on Snoop Dogg.

"Why any woman would want to go to a concert to listen to this misogynist wretch escapes me. Why he was allowed into the country in the first place, well, that's another matter."

This echoes statements made by Foyle Women's Aid, who said that Snoop's lyrics "objectify and demean women."
