Olaf Tyransen, a contributing journalist for Hot Press and The Herald, revealed this morning on his personal Twitter account that he has been booked to appear at this year's Electric Picnic.

The journalist would presumably be booked to participate in the Mindfield area, the festival's home for spoken word, interviews and literary performances.

This year's tenth anniversary of Electric Picnic is proving to be the most contentious yet. As was reported by us last week, this year's festival is currently in the middle of a legal battle between one of the festival's original founders, John Reynolds of POD, and Melvin Benn's Festival Republic. The two are at loggerheads about who exactly retains control, particularly when it comes to booking acts for the festival.

Electric Picnic is operated by EP Festivals Ltd. which, in turn, is 71% owned by Festival Republic and 29% owned by POD.

What do we think? Well, Olaf Tyransen's booking for Electric Picnic will likely be seen as good news for those hoping to see an official announcement for the festivals soon, but it's likely that certain sections of the festival - such as Mindfield, for example - are proceeding with their bookings on the assumption that the festival will proceed as usual this year and that's likely dependent on the result of mediation between POD and Festival Republic.
