INXS are to split up 35 years after they formed, the band announced over the weekend. The Australian rockers began their life as a band in 1977 and was formed by the Farris brothers Jon, Andrew and Tim, along with now the now deceased frontman Michael Hutchence. Hutchence died in 1997 and was replaced by first Jon Stevens, then reality show winner J.D. Fortune and finally Irishman Ciaran Gribbin.
By the mid 1980's INXS had achieved worldwide success thanks, in part, to albums like 1985's Listen Like Thieves and 1987's Kick, the latter of which contained some of the band's biggest hits 'Devil Inside', Never Tear Us Apart' and 'Need You Tonight'.
The band announced their split live on stage in Perth, Australia, midway through a set in support of Matchbox Twenty when drummer Jon Farris announced it to be their final performance.
