Fourplay DJs play the Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project this weekend and John Balfe caught up with DJ Steven Cooper, one quarter of the guys, to find out more about them.

How did the four of you first come to perform together?

It was dreamt up by me. I wanted to bring a different clubbing experience with djs who are full of energy, getting involved with the crowd and bringing a party.

Do you generally all manage to blend together seamlessly, or are there ever any 'candid' discussions about the direction certain tunes might be taking?

We do have production meetings every now and then, but fourplay works so well due to us connecting as friends and djs! And by reading the crowd we know what direction to bring it! But communication during the set is always going on and an essential part of our performance.

Where does the Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project rank amongst the gigs you've played so far this year? it's definitely up there at the top, we played at the UCD Ball this year and that was unreal!

For those who have yet to see Fourplay DJs perform, how would you describe your live performances?

Electrifying, ha words can't describe the energy that comes from us, it just needs to be seen!

Do you draw any particular influence from any other acts? Not really, we try bring originality to our performance!

You're all very busy, with numerous other gigs on the go at the same time. How do you find the time to be in a successful group, as well as the day jobs?

We meet as much as possible, and are always group texting daily so were always in contact. But by being committed to fourplay and good planning and management make it work.

Do you have any big plans for the rest of this year and moving on into the next?

We are all nearly all full with bookings for the rest of this year have very big plans for 2012 but it's all hush hush!
