Jurassic 5 have announced a second successive Vicar Street appearance this summer. Having already been announced as playing on June 17th, the sixpiece will now also play the same venue on the previous night, June 16th.
Few hip hop bands have made an impression as big as Jurassic 5 over the last two decades. Formed in 1993, the band - which is the combined talents of vocalists Chali 2na, Akil, Marc 7 and DJs Nu Mark and Cut Chemist - eschewed the traditional guns n' drugs identity which had overrun rap and hip hop in the early to mid 90's, in favour of a more positive and uplifting musical message. Think De La Soul instead of NWA.
J5 initially split in 2007 but, now with a full line-up in tow, they will give two hip hop master classes in Vicar Street this summer. Trust us, get your tickets to this one early - it's gonna be a belter.
