Gered Mankowitz is responsible for some of the most iconic and recognised rock photography of the 20th century. As Jimi Hendrix’s personal photographer, Gered had unprecedented access to the musician and captured some of the most celebrated imagery of the world’s greatest guitarist throughout the 1960’s. The Experience Hendrix fine art photography exhibition will open to the public for one month from Thursday, 19th July until Sunday, 12th August 2012 at ebow gallery in Christchruch, where enthusiasts can view Gered’s work for the first time in Ireland. Gered and Jimi developed a close and trusting bond during a pivotal point in his tremendously significant rock ‘n’ roll career, with their combined work capturing iconic moments in cultural history. With a Hollywood biopic about Jimi Hendrix, starring Outkast’s Andre 3000, currently being filmed in Dublin, the exhibition opens at a significant time.

The fine art photography of Jimi Hendrix by Gered Mankowitz will forever be an iconic and poignant collection, with each exceptional and undoubtedly valuable piece offering something unique to the discerning eye. This is also a unique opportunity to invest in rock ‘n’ roll art history with a number of limited edition pieces going on sale and prices ranging from €750 to €6000. The exhibition will also include traditional archival silver gelatine prints, archival lambda photographs and lightbox photographs.
