Before the banjo fans among you get into too much of a tizzy, though, it appears that Mr. Mumford was joking. In an interview with XFM, Mumford said that he answers yes when people ask him if Mumford & Sons have split - just so they "can have a big comeback tour next year."

You might recall last year M&S announced last September that they were taking an extended break from music, telling Rolling Stone that they were "excited about being free of schedules" and that were looking forward to "living a life outside of the band".

And then that's what they did. For the next few months or so, anyway. Until, that is, when Marcus co-hosted XFM's Communion show last Sunday evening and elaborated on exactly what's been going on in camp Mumford these past few months.

"It's been quite nice to have a few months to chill out", he said. "Everyone keeps asking if we've broken up as a band, which I love, so I keep saying 'yes', and then we can have a big comeback tour next year!"

So that's that then. Mumford & Sons will soon be back in your life, whether you like it or not.
