The latest bizarre and concerning trend amongst pop fans attending gigs has been to throw items up on stage at the performer.

In recent months, someone threw a bag containing their late mother's ashes at Pink, someone threw a sex toy on stage in Sweden at a Lil Nas X concert, and artists including Ava Max, Kelsea Ballerini and Drake have been hit (and hurt) by fans throwing items at them mid-gig.

It's come to the point where Adele warned fans last week at her Vegas residency:  "I dare you, dare you to throw something at me. I'll f**king kill you! Stop hitting the artist with objects."

However, it seems that the message has not been received by fans as Harry Styles is the latest artist to suffer an injury at the hands of a fan.

It comes after he was hit in the eye by a Skittle (the sweet, not the bowling apparatus) last year and hit in the face by a bunch of flowers in Cardiff last month.

Footage from his Vienna show on Saturday night shows him walking off the stage, when a small object hits him in the face. He pauses, momentarily stunned, and continues on.

Styles has not yet commented publicly on the issue, but singer Charlie Puth begged fans to stop the trend - which some believe is driven by social media - by tweeting "This tendency of throwing items at singers while they are on stage must come to an end. It’s really risky and disrespectful. I beseech you, just take in the music."
