John Lennon would have been 70 tomorrow, were it not for his senseless murder on December 8th 1980. Born on October 9th 1940, his birthday is being celebrated the world over, with some of the largest tributes taking place in Liverpool, Los Angeles, Cleveland and Seattle.
Last weekend in New York, Lady Gaga joined Yoko and her Plastic Ono Band on stage to pay homage to the former Beatle, while EMI are marking the occasion by re-releasing all seven of Lennon' solo albums, newly remastered under the watchful eye of Yoko Ono herself. Even Google have honouring Lennon with one of a special video doodle.
