The frontwoman of Kells band Ham Sandwich has appeared in court on charges of theft.

The Evening Herald reported yesterdsay that Niamh Farrell, whose band released their debut album 'Carry the Meek' earlier this year, is accused of stealing up to €14,000 from the Dundrum branch of BT2 over a period of 15 months, between July 2006 and June 2007.

They say that she was employed in the cash office and is charged with stealing amounts of money ranging from €50 to €250 during that time.

The court hearing could not fully proceed because the prosecuting Garda is currently away, and Farrell's solicitor said that he is still waiting for documents relating to the case.

She was remanded on continuing bail until February.

Ham Sandwich play a New Year's Eve party at The Village on December 31st.
