You may recall reading read on these pages about Billie Joe Armstong’s on-stage meltdown at a festival in the U.S. a few weeks ago. Well it seems the fallout of that is still being felt.

Armstrong was upset at his band’s performance being cut short to make more time for Usher and vented his feelings on stage vehemently. The Green Day frontman subsequently blamed booze for the outburst, apologised and entered rehab.

It has now been suggested by his label bosses that Armstrong may remain in treatment until after Christmas. Rob Cavallo, of Warner Records, told Rolling Stone: “He's under medical supervision for a while to get him clean. His doctors are still evaluating. All I can say is I don't know if we'll see him before or after Christmas. It's basically undetermined when he'll be back.”

Green Day have been replaced by Metallica at the upcoming Voodoo Arts and Music Festival in New Orleans.
