South Korean pop sensation PSY has responded rather unexpectedly to Green Day's accusation that the K-pop star is the equivalent of musical herpes.

Green Day frontman took to his instagram account yesterday, posting a picture of PSY with the caption: "This dude is the herpes of music. Once you think it's gone, it comes back. #herpes #flareup #pleasegoaway".

When asked by Fuse.tv about the quote, PSY commented that he didn't know what herpes was but, once the sexually transmitted infection was properly explained to him, PSY seemed to enjoy the comparison.

He said: "I kinda like it, it's cool. So he's saying I'm like herpes? I should say something to him. What was his name? Billie Joe Armstrong from Green Day, he's saying I'm like herpes, it keeps coming back. I think it's really cool and I appreciate that. Thank you."

Something must have been lost in translation there, we think.

PSY's most recent single 'Gentleman' has failed to hit the heights of its predecessor, the massively successful 'Gangnam Style', perhaps because in the video PSY kicks over a 'no parking' sign which was an act that a South Korean broadcaster deemed unsuitable for broadcast and banned the track.

Seriously.
