The Grammy Awards 2009 are set to take place this Sunday February 8th, being telecast live by CBS at 8pm. The increasingly impressive line up for the performance now includes Paul McCartney with Dave Grohl, Radiohead, U2, Adele, Chris Brown, Coldplay, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, Justin Timberlake, Estelle, Kanye West, Jennifer Hudson, The Jonas Brothers, Kid Rock, Lil Wayne and Taylor Swift. There's also be all-star tributes to Bo Diddley and The Four Tops.
Headlines everywhere today claim that Blink 182 are reforming for the awards. They are in fact merely appearing together to present an award, but it is a big step forward for them as the three members - Travis Barker, Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge - have not appeared on a stage together since their messy break up in 2004. DeLonge had a huge falling out with Barker at the time, but the two have made up after Barker's was seriously injured in a plane crash last year. News of their Grammy appearance has sparked hopes for a real Blink 182 reunion.
Of the more unusual stories to come out of the event, Paper Planes singer M.I.A. is said to be performing despite the fact that the awards take place on her baby's due date. The likelihood of her actually going into labour on stage are probably quite slim, but it is odd that she should want to work at nine months pregnant rather than watching the ceremony from the comfort of home with a cup o cha and a biscuit, even if she is nominated for Record Of The Year.
