Gary Glitter has temporarily avoided being deported to the UK by claiming to have suffered a heart attack.

The convicted paedophile was released from the Vietnam prison he was serving a three-year-sentence in for molesting two 11- and 12-year-old girls, and was due to fly back to the UK via Bangkok. Upon arriving in Bangkok, however, the 64-year-old claimed that he was 'having a heart attack'.

He's now believed to be residing in a hotel at Bangkok Airport, as Thai officials have refused him entry into their country proper - despite the singer pleading for medical treatment.

If Glitter is forced to return to the UK, he'll have to sign on to the sex offenders' register, tell police where he plans to live and if he plans to leave the country, and he may be prevented from any contact with children, and use of the internet.
