Our pals over at MCD have unveiled a rake of newly-announced gigs for you to treat your ears to. The loudest of which will see Glasgow natives The Amazing Snakeheads will hold court Upstairs in Whelan's on April 30th. This band have to be seen to be believed - on stage, they are uncompromised, truly a force of nature. "I genuinely don’t know where the music comes from," says Dale Barclay, the band leader. "How I play music - live or in the studio - it is what it is and I struggle to know where it comes from. There's been a lot of things written about the band, people say we're angry and things like that - but to me it's just us. There's a hell of a lot of joy in the music. It might not be apparent but on a good night, I’m experiencing absolute joy when I play music."

Sound good enough for us! Tix for this one will set you back €15.

Big September (pictured above) will bring their indie rock to The Academy on 17th May next. The band burst onto the scene early 2013 and have stamped the name Big September firmly into the minds of many since their arrival. Five friends from school, all hailing from the town of Bray, certainly love to live the rock n' roll lifestyle and have no qualms about it - exuding confidence on stage. With their debut album Ballroom Addicts finished and ready to be unleashed it's a pretty safe bet that these guys will be around for some time. Tickets will cost you €12.

Rising country music star Kacey Musgraves has also just announced a show at The Academy, set for next 10th of July. The Nashville-based singer/songwriter released her Mercury Records Nashville debut album Same Trailer Different Park last March, turning many a head in the process, and now is set for her Irish debut. The veteran of the US talk show circuit will tour with none other than Katy Perry later this year so this'll likely be your only opportunity to see her perform in a more intimate setting. Tickets are set at €17.
