Following in the footsteps of Gary Lightbody's side project Tired Pony, Snow Patrol's Nathan Connolly's new band Little Matador will play The Academy 2 this November 20th. Their self-titled debut album, set for release by Fiction Records in early 2014, is an aggressive, sassy, incendiary collection dissecting love, loss, rejection, redemption, death and re-birth... all the important stuff.

Connolly drew upon musicians’ friends who shared his love for visceral, committed rock 'n' roll to form his band. In Dublin he sought out drummer Paul 'Binzer' Brennan and bassist Gavin Fox, a crack rhythm section whose collective CVs incorporate stints in Idlewild, The Frames, Bell XI, Turn and Concerto for Constantine. Portland, Oregon's Troy Stewart, a member of Tired Pony and The Windsor Player, was recruited on guitar, and the line-up was completed with the addition of LaFaro guitarist Dave Magee, formerly Connolly's sidekick in F.U.E.L.

This is well worth checking out and you can procure tickets right now, which'll cost you just €12.50.

As well as the above, nine-piece Waterford outfit Propeller Palms will also play the Academy 2 on Dublin's Middle Abbey Street on November 22nd. 2012 was a busy year for the band, following the release of their debut album “All in This Together” which received extensive regional and national reviews. Not resting on their laurels, the band are hard at work on a new EP and you can expect a taster of it at this show. Tix on sale from Wednesday 16th October, priced at €12.50.
