Psychedelic rock outfit Tame Impala will play a highly anticipated Irish gig towards the end of the summer. The Australian band will roll into town to play the Olympia in the heart of Dublin on August 21st.

Tame Impala are one of the most critically-lauded bands of the last few years. A first EP was released in 2008 but it was 2010's Innerspeaker which really gave the band traction across the globe. The album was an immaculately produced record, harking back to influences ranging from 70's rock to The Beatles. Lonerism, their album released last year, only continued and reaffirmed that momentum.

R&B superstar Frank Ocean is among the band's long list of admirers. Speaking in an interview recently, Ocean took time to namecheck the band: "I love Tame Impala, Tyler [The Creator] put me onto them. Their music has a freedom to it."

Tickets for the show will go on sale at 9am on Friday 1st March priced at €25.
