Gary Glitter could be in line for a financial windfall from the NFL. The disgraced former musician could be owed significant royalties after it was confirmed that his 1972 hit 'Rock and Roll Part II' could be played at the Superbowl.

The track is sometimes piped through the arena when a team scores a touchdown and that is tipped to be the case at this year's showpiece when the New England Patriots play the New York Giants. NFL authorities stated in 2006 that Glitter's version shouldn't be used, using instead a cover version by Tube Tops 2000, but Glitter will still be owed songwriting subsidiaries from any public performance.

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that Madonna will perform at the Superbowl halftime show and Kelly Clarkson will sing the US national anthem prior to the start of the game?
