Dublin based musician and producer Stephen Shannon, otherwise known as Strands, is giving away his new Chow Bell EP completely for free.

Shannon is also a member of Dublin ambient group Halfset, who picked up a Choice Music Prize nomination for their 2008 debut album 'Another Way of Being There'. Strands self-titled debut album was released in October of last year, and while it remains in firmly in the instrumental genre, has a much wider scope and range of influences than that of Halfset.

Chow Bell is now being released as part of a five track EP, which features the original album version of the track alongside remixes by top upcoming Irish acts Visionair (Richie Egan of Jape & The Redneck Manifesto's Niall Byrne), quirky alt-funkster Meljoann, experimental band Hulk and Wicklow electronic outfit Sarsparilla.

The Chow Bell EP is available to download now from https://strands.bandcamp.com but is only free for the first 1000 people who get there.

You can also catch Strands debut TV performance on The View tonight (February 15th) from 11.25pm.
