Dappy has been charged with assault stemming from an incident which occurred in the early hours of Thursday February 27th.

Essex police released a statement, as per Digital Spy, which says: "Costadinos Contostavlos, aged 26, from Sandridge, St Albans, has been charged with an assault by beating following an incident outside a nightclub in Moulsham Street in Chelmsford in the early hours of February 27. He has been released on bail prior to his appearance at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on March 19."

Dappy had recently been quoted by The Mirror as saying he was interested in reforming N-Dubz with former bandmates Tulisa Contostavlos and Fazer. The group split in 2011 with the aim of focussing on their solo careers - and apparently that hasn't worked out too well.

The rapper made the news at the tail-end of last year after being hospitalised by a horse who kicked him in the face. That horse was then tipped to win the BRIT Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music - but fell short, unfortunately.
