There was a period following the untimely death of drummer Taylor Hawkins where many wondered whether Foo Fighters would call it a day.

It is, after all, the second time that Dave Grohl has lost a friend and bandmate in an abrupt manner.

However, earlier this year they announced that they intend to continue as a band, and the fruits of their labour in recent times has been revealed: their 11th album 'But Here We Are' will be released on June 2nd.

There is no word on who will replace Hawkins - who died in March 2022 at the age of 50 - behind the kit, with many noting that the drumming on lead single 'Rescued' does not sound like Grohl. Several people have speculated that it is the work of Josh Freese, former Queens of the Stone Age drummer, who was hotly tipped to join the band.

A press release on the album said: "A brutally honest and emotionally raw response to everything Foo Fighters endured over the last year, ‘But Here We Are’ is a testament to the healing powers of music, friendship and family. Courageous, damaged and unflinchingly authentic, ‘But Here We Are’ opens with newly released lead single ‘Rescued,’ the first of 10 songs that run the emotional gamut from rage and sorrow to serenity and acceptance, and myriad points in between."

The album was produced by Greg Kurstin and is said to be informed by their earlier material: "Sonically channelling the naiveté of Foo Fighters’ 1995 debut, informed by decades of maturity and depth, ‘But Here We Are’ is the sound of brothers finding refuge in the music that brought them together in the first place 28 years ago, a process that was as therapeutic as it was about a continuation of life."
