The musician was awarded the Order of the Companions of Honour by Prince Charles at Windsor Castle this week.

Speaking at the ceremony, John said, "I’ve had an amazing life, music has been my life, and I got this for music and for work for charity".

John received the honour for his long career in music and his work with charity over the years.

"This is just a reminder that there’s more to do. More work to do for music, more work to do for charity and life is great – I’m so lucky."

The singer had to postpone his 'Farewell Yellow Brick Road' tour due to hip replacement surgery.

"I may not look as if I’m 100 per cent fit – I’m not quite – but I’m still raring to go and I’ve got a lot more work to do as far as my life goes."

John gave an update about his surgery recently, stating he "remains in pain" and cannot manoeuvre himself in and out of cars.

The singer revealed he has been working on new music and collaborated with Gorillaz and Metallica over lockdown last year. His Christmas collaboration single with Ed Sheeran is also due to release soon.
