Elton John is taking a dip into the literary world by penning his first book, a collection of musings and thoughts centred on the fights against Aids called Love Is The Cure: Ending the Global Aids Epidemic. The book, due out in July, will also be read on audiobook by the singer.

The Guardian reports that John wrote: "[Aids] is a disease that must be cured not by a miraculous vaccine, but by changing hearts and minds, and through a collective effort to break down social barriers and to build bridges of compassion."

The book will include personal stories and reflections on Freddie Mercury and teenage activist Ryan White.

Over the last 20 years the Elton John Aids Foundation has raised over £145million for Aids studies and initiatives.
