Music and acting legend Eartha Kitt died yesterday (Christmas Day) at the age of 81.

Kitt was perhaps best known for her 1953 song 'Santa Baby' and her role as 'Catwoman' in the 1960s TV series of Batman, but had a hugely successful career in the world of music and film that spanned five decades.

She was suffering from colon cancer and died at her home in New York yesterday. She is survived by her daughter and two grandchildren.
