The 2005 incarnation of Electric Picnic boasted a very solid line-up, with the likes of Fatboy Slim (returning this year, remember) The Flaming Lips, Kraftwerk and LCD Soundsystem all on hand to play the Stradbally festival but it was Arcade Fire which will perhaps be remembered as having the single most memorable performance in the long history of the festival.

Remember, back in 2005 Arcade Fire had yet to achieve the mainstream success which would eventually propel them towards the summit of the rock n' roll pantheon. The Canadian band's performance was something of a coming out party and something they all still remember fondly.

Speaking to entertainment.ie, Arcade Fire's Richard Reed Parry shared his memories of that show.

"It was amazing", he said. "It was maybe our best festival show ever. It was off the hook in terms of people singing and being stoked. It was just this incredible, insane feeling. Ireland always is so kind to us. We love playing there. Irish crowds are some of the best in the whole world and Irish people are some of the best in the whole world. I'm just buttering you up now, though!"

RTE were on hand in 2005 to film a documentary about the Electric Picnic, which you can check out below, including footage from Arcade Fire's show and an interview with an incredibly youthful looking Win Butler.
