The Beatles' 1968 animated film Yellow Submarine is the next in line to be remade, getting the 3D treatment from Back To The Future director Robert Zemeckis and Disney Studios.

Variety reports that Zemeckis has already bagged the rights to Beatles classics from the original film such as 'Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band', ' All You Need Is Love', 'All Together Now', 'When I’m 64', 'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds,' and 'Baby You’re a Rich Man'.

A childhood favourite for many, unaware of its psychedelic undercurrents, the original film followed John, Paul, George and Ringo as they travelled from Liverpool to the undersea realm of Pepperland to rescue Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band from the evil, music hating Blue Meanies.

The new film will be made with performance capture 3D digital production, and it'll be interesting to see how it turns out. The Beatles are also set to releases their entire re-mastered back catalogue on September 9th.
