Madonna may have run so this current generation of pop stars could walk - and that's never been more true than in this case.

Madge had a fair few controversies in her heyday, and now Demi Lovato - who has had a turbulent career and personal life herself - is learning about the phrase 'no publicity is bad publicity'.

A poster for Lovato's most recent album 'Holy Fvck' ran across six locations in London last summer, and it's now been revealed that it attracted four complaints to the Advertising Standards Authority.

The ASA ruled that the image, which saw Lovato in bondage gear and lying on a cross-shaped mattress, was "likely to cause serious offence to Christians for linking sexuality to the crucifix and crucifixion."

They said that the posters were placed 'irresponsibly' where children could see them, and were likely to cause 'serious or widespread offence.'

It noted that Lovato was "bound up in a bondage-style outfit whilst lying on a mattress shaped like a crucifix, in a position with [their] legs bound to one side which was reminiscent of Christ on the cross."

Lovato has not commented on the ban herself.
