Deftones bassist Chi Cheng is seriously ill following a car crash last week, but doctors are optimistic that he will make a full recovery.
Cheng (38) lapsed into a coma following the crash in California, but the band posted a blog on their website that said he had moved his lip and leg following prompting.
Frontman Chino Moreno thanked fans for their prayers and good wishes. The next Deftones album 'Eros' was due in early 2009, but it is unknown if the accident will affect the release.
