David Byrne has always been the thinking person's pop star - his years with Talking Heads showcased his gift for turning arty social dissertations into catchy chart singles. After years of working on ballets and world music, Byrne's new album is a return to his roots - Look Into The Eyeball is a joyful collection of jazzy, electronic songs with smart lyrics and tunes that wouldn't be out of place on 1940's Broadway. While it's slightly more frivolous than his very best work, it should still make the boybands hold their heads in shame.
