With Adele breaking records left, right and centre with both 'Hello' and her album '25' just a few short months ago, it was difficult to imagine those phenomenal figures being bested any time soon.
And then David Bowie died.
It's been revealed that Bowie has posthumously broken Adele's record for 'most views in a 24-hour period' on Vevo. His music video back catalogue was viewed an incredible 51 million times on Monday, the day that the news of his death broke.
In comparison, Adele's previous record was 36 million views, which was set the day that her comeback single 'Hello' went online.
Bowie's most recent video 'Lazarus' was been viewed 11.1 million times alone on Monday. Despite only going online 8 days ago, it currently stands at 19.8 million views.
