Following on from the success of the inaugural John Martyn Tribute Festival in Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny last year, organisers have announced that a two day celebration of the folk legend's music will take place Saturday the 15th and Sunday the 16th of September.

Last year's festival coincided with Martyn's birthday on September 11th. That night John’s long time band (Alan Thomson, Spencer Cozens, Arran Ahmun and Martin Winning ) were joined on stage by established and emerging Irish artists Glen Hansard, Paddy Casey, The Man Whom, Mick Hanly, Iarla O’Lionard, Ultan Conlon, Kevin Power and Colin Scanlon. The artists performed songs from decades of John's career comprising of his well known and loved classics including 'May You Never', 'Over the Hill', 'I Don’t Wanna Know'. "it was really special to have such a collection of fantastic musicians to come and celebrate John’s career, in the town where he spent his latter years" said Eva Lynch, event organiser.

The John Martyn Tribute Festival takes place in Carroll's Market Yard, Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny on 15th and 16th of September.
