Daft Punk fans the world over have this morning emitted a yelp of collective excitement as more news emerged about the French electronic duo's next album.

Random Access Memories will be released via Columbia Records on May 21st, their first release on the label after leaving Virgin, to whom they signed in 1996. This will be the first official Daft Punk album since 2005's Human After All, save for the Original Soundtrack to the movie Tron: Legacy, which was released in 2010.

Chic's Nile Rogers has already confirmed his involvement in the album, along with Animal Collective's Panda bear and Feist's pal Chilly Gonzales.

Daft Punk are also one of several acts, also including Mariah Carey and The Rolling Stones, who are understood to be in line to headline this summer's Glastonbury festival, though Glasto organiser Emily Eavis is keeping her cards close to her chest and has suggested otherwise.
