The weekend is upon us and if you're feeling like a high-energy song to get you in the mood, look no further.

Coldplay has just debuted their new single and music video "Higher Power" on Youtube.

The group began work on the track early last year. They wrote on social media last week: "Higher Power is a song that arrived on a little keyboard and a bathroom sink at the start of 2020.

"It was produced by Max Martin who is a true wonder of the universe."

The song was first teased last week via a cryptic ‘Alien Radio’ video and website. They also shared a snippet of the track on Tiktok for 24 hours earlier this week.

Coldplay also revealed that "Higher Power" will receive its first play on an "extraterrestrial transmission" to French ESA astronaut Thomas Pesquet, who's aboard the International Space Station. Which is very cool.

As you can see they've adapted the extraterrestrial theme into the music video as well.

The band will next play at Glastonbury’s special livestream event from Worthy Farm later this month on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd May.

Coldplay are also reported to be currently working on a new album called 'Music of the Spheres.'
